No Painting Zone, Newport
Every two or three years, Mr. Nam climbed his ladders with his coloured paint to redecorate the render on his house in Newport, Gwent. To be more accurate he used to. Now he no longer needs to.
"I got fed up of regular repainting" he says "so I investigated maintenance free options and I am very pleased I made the decision to opt for Stonechip cladding. It is the ideal long life maintenance free solution as far as I am concerned."
Cadre Stonechip Cladding was used to cover all the rendered wall area of Mr. Nam's four bedroom brick and rendered semi. Built in 1922, the house has, over recent years, been upgraded with other maintenance free features including PVCu double glazed windows and doors, guttering and PVCu roof fascias and soffitts. The cladding completed Mr Nam's goal by finally eliminating all exterior redecoration requirements and he no longer needs his ladders at all.
The cladding was carried out at the same time and by the same company who undertook the roofline work, ensuring co-ordination of the finished effect and optimising working convenience. Cadre Stonechip Cladding offers an excellent solution for external refurbishment of buildings, extending their useful life. It is a dry ventilated cladding system manufactured from cellular foam thermoplastic with natural stone aggregate embedded into the surface during production. Supplied in 6metre lengths of 180mm wide planks, the planks interlock to give a consistently smooth and attractive finished appearance. It is quick and simple to fix under virtually any weather conditions and provides a high quality protective and decorative durable facing.
Mr. Nam is extremely pleased with both the look of the Stonechip Cladding and its cleanability. At Halloween last year, trick or treaters threw eggs at the cladding. Even after three months of winter weather, the cladding was easily power jet washed down with no residual staining whatsoever.

Stonechip and Slate finishes were applied to their BISF house 3 years ago to enhance appearance, minimise ongoing repairs and ultimately improve its long term value. Three years later and they still consider the finish is "absolutely marvellous".
Recalling their search for a suitable material took them through local builders, trade magazines and other local councils until finally coming across the vinylit range of materials from several different sources. Fitting took place over 3 weeks with regular visits by surveyors and building inspectorate.
Since the original installation it hasn't been necessary to undertake any maintenance - any dirt washes off with the next rainfall - and it looks as good as the day it was installed.
Overall, three years on, the initial investment made has been well worthwhile, the home feels a lot warmer and the house stands outfrom others in the road.
